JET 2027 opens this month, and the paperwork is the hard part
- JET pay across all five contract years, from 4,020,000 yen in year one to 4,320,000
- EPIK’s real pay floor is 2.35M won, not the 2.1M printed on the official scale

Updated 26 August 2026: the JET euro conversion previously read €23,500. It now reads €21,800, converted at the ECB reference rate of 17 August 2026, the same rate and date cited in Edition 2. The JET opening month, previously given as September, now reflects the official timeline of October to early December. Updated 9 September 2026: the JET, EPIK, NALCAP and Taiwan TFETP pages were re-read at source today, and three lines above have moved as a result. Every euro figure on the board has been recomputed at the European Central Bank reference rates of 8 September 2026, replacing a mix of European Commission and older ECB rates, so the Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Vietnam and Thailand euro figures have all shifted — the JET conversion now reads €22,400. The JET window now reads available September 2026 and closing November 2026, which is what the official 2027 timeline says, with its own caveat that exact dates are still to be determined. The EPIK range previously read 2.1–2.8M KRW; the official salary page states that the offices of education are not hiring Level 3 and that all applicants must qualify for at least Level 2, so the floor now reads 2.35M. The Taiwan TFETP salary and vacancy count have been removed because both official pages returned no readable content on 31 August and again today.

The Hire Wire exists because TEFL job hunting runs on rumour. Edition 3 follows the official JET timeline into the month the window opens, and it carries two corrections and a poll recount: the UK sponsored ESOL roles we pointed readers at have gone, EPIK’s real pay floor is higher than the figure printed on its own scale, and our own reader poll count was overstated by automated clicks. We check programme pages, ministry notices and government boards, print the date we checked them, and correct a line in place when a source moves, including when the source was us.
