Our five-month teaching internship is means that you can start teaching in this lovely nation, and perhaps even make it your home for a longer time. Vietnam is a very popular travel destination because of the inexpensive cost of living and relaxed way of life. The nation is recognized for beautiful locations like Halong Bay, which is home to historic architecture, cascading rice fields, and mouthwatering cuisine. If you want to have the time to explore this beauty while significantly impacting your students’ lives, you’re at the right place.
You will receive complete support in securing your first teaching position with the help of our paid internship teaching English in Vietnam. You will also be joined by fellow interns who are beginning their TEFL careers. You will complete online coursework for a lifetime TEFL certification before departing to Vietnam as part of the internship package. During the welcome orientation, after your arrival in Vietnam, you will have the opportunity to gain practical teaching experience in addition to living in one of Southeast Asia’s most mysterious and alluring nations.

What’s required before applying?
- Passport holder from one of the following countries: Ireland, UK, Canada, Australia, USA, or New Zealand
- Aged between 20 – 35 (contact an advisor if you're older)
- TEFL qualification (order hardcopy at teflinstitute.com/tefl-shop for apostille)
- Bachelor’s degree (hardcopy required for apostille)
- Clean criminal record (certificate required for apostille)
- Clean bill of mental and physical health (contact an advisor if you're on medication and/or receiving ongoing treatment)
- Please enquire if you any visible tattoos or piercings that cannot be covered
- Due to new labour regulations, non-native English speakers (including South Africans) need to provide a C1 English cert
What do I need to organise?
- International return flights
- Recommended spending money of £700-1,000 for the first six weeks
- Proof of a clean criminal record
- Budget of £85 for the medical check in Vietnam
- Vaccines (consult your GP or local travel clinic)
- Visa costs - specific to each country & usually cost around £25-50
- Hardcopy TEFL Certificate: Budget approx. £35 to purchase a hardcopy of your TEFL cert for legalisation. In line with Apostille Convention policies, a new certificate format will be created for you.
- Legalisation of Visa Documents: Budget approx. £250-300. Degree, TEFL Cert, and Police Cert will require legalisation. Guidance can be provided on the necessary steps.

Your trip Itinerary
Our in-country team will greet you and the other interns when you arrive. After the one-week orientation, you’ll travel to your placement area by bus, train, or plane.
You will learn about Vietnamese culture, language, and society at orientation and build friendships with other teachers over the welcome meal.
Learn the regional greetings, become familiar with the regional traditions, put your TEFL skills to the test, and make new friends. It’s time to start teaching English in Vietnam, whether at a government or private school, a language school, a primary or secondary school.

Our Vietnam program offers placements across the country so that you might be put anywhere, but you’ll always share a space or lodging with one or two other interns. Placements for January 2024 are concentrated in and around the stunning and more traditional northern Vietnamese cities of Hanoi and Haiphong.
Work Schedule
Work Schedule
You will teach in either a private language school, private or government primary/high school, or in a university. Your students will range from the ages of 4 years old to 18+.
