We recommend the 30-Hour Advanced Grammar Course as a tool for understanding grammar correctly. Most people understand innately that grammar can change the way a sentence is read or heard. The way that we use verbs, nouns, adjectives and adverbs can make a significant difference in the way students learn and how they read and write at the same time. With that being said, if you are a native English speaker, you might feel confident in your command of English. However, does that make you qualified to teach? Can you explain why grammar works in the way it does, rather than simply being able to say ‘it just does’? That is the critical difference for an English teacher. They need the technical knowledge to help students learn. Our 30-hour course will give you the crash course in grammar you need to be able to teach, offering insights into both sentence formation and word order. Advanced Grammar for English Teachers

Module One: How are Words Formed?

Have you ever stopped to think about how words are formed and how parts of words come together to make the language you speak? In this module, we take a look at how words form, how words have become part of the English language, and how words have evolved and changed over time. You’ll come away feeling ready to teach your students with this module.

Module Two: How to Arrange Words into Sentences

You might be surprised to know that there are over 171,000 words in the English language. Luckily, we only ask you to teach a few hundred of those at a time. In the second module of the course, you will learn how to teach students about building words into sentences and also know the skills necessary to help your pupils build grammatically correct statements ranging from simple sentences to complex ones. 

Module Three: Time to Talk Tenses

You’re probably familiar with the three basic tenses – Past, Present and Future. However, did you know that there are as many as 13 tenses (depending on who you ask)? We help you to understand all of them and how they relate to your lessons as an English teacher. Your future students will thank you for paying attention to this one, as you’ll be able to explain your newfound knowledge to them!

Module Four: How to Teach Advanced Grammar

The majority of entry-level TEFL positions ask you to focus on delivering conventional English lessons. These types of lessons are a fantastic way to build up experience as a new teacher, both here in the UK and online. However, you won’t be focusing too much on grammatical theory. When you’re ready to boost your income and improve your skill set, you’ll be drawing on this module.

We teach you how to explain the difference between tenses, how to teach grammar at the highest levels, and help you construct activities which will help students consolidate their learning.

The Accreditation Council for Distance Learning – or ACDL – is an accrediting body which specialises in supporting and authenticating distance learning and the courses offered by them. The ethos they subscribe to is one of maintaining the highest standards to ensure students feel confident making decisions with a provider. We are pleased to be able to confirm our accreditation with the ACDL – our accreditation number for anyone who wishes to verify us is 2854-2540.

The Vital Consular:

So, this specific verification process offered by the Vital Consular differs from an accreditation a provider would typically receive. We are a verified UK TEFL Provider, which means that the courses we offer are all fit for purpose, and you can study at any point and walk away with a suitable qualification which can be used overseas. However, the Vital Consular scheme takes things one step further. It means that all scheme members – those who get a qualification – have their certification authenticated and recognised by the UK Government. This is a special accolade which not all providers manage to obtain.

As a verification, this type of certification is vital for working in Vietnam, Taiwan, China and other destinations where you need to verify documents for your visa application. If the qualification you have does not get verified by the UK Government, then you’d need to apply for a new course, and this takes time and costs money. We help to circumvent this issue.

  • WHAT IS TEFL?

    TEFL stands for Teaching English as a Foreign Language. It is primarily teaching non-native speakers English without the use of translation. This means you won’t need to know their first language. TEFL teachers will need the knowledge and know-how of the methodologies to teach this way. This is why teachers must first complete a TEFL course and gain the qualification. TEFL is widely used to teach English online in one-to-one or small group scenarios or to teach English abroad and is sometimes even used as an easier way to travel.
  • WHO CAN DO A TEFL COURSE?

    First and foremost, aspiring TEFL teachers must be outgoing and confident, and not afraid to make themselves look a little silly, especially when teaching children. Expression is a huge part of the methodologies to get your point across. You’ll warm up to this in time, and it all takes practice.

    We suggest people be at least 17 with a C1 level of English or higher. If you’re not sure, we have a free English test. We also would recommend people who work on their own initiative as it is an online course and you will need to be your own motivation.
  • WHAT DO I NEED TO TEACH ONLINE?
