The course is designed to help turn you into a confident and capable English teacher in as little as four weeks. We have built the course to be as flexible and practical as possible because we understand how important it can be to learn in different ways – so you’ll encounter things like videos, quizzes and interactive material which will help you to perform well.

You don’t need too much if you want to be able to complete the course with us. The only thing that we ask for is a C1 minimum when it comes to English, and that you have an online device for accessing the platform. We didn’t want to make it too hard to be able to study.

As a course provider, we are constantly evolving what we offer people. For example, we are now using a dedicated app to help you study 24/7, and you can also access the verification page just in case your employer wants to check how legitimate your qualification is.

There are ten modules that you will need to complete as part of your studies. These modules allow you to access the course material in any way you choose – from written to video or even audio content. You can learn in a way which works for you.

Once the course is complete, you’ll be able to teach English as a foreign language wherever in the world you choose, and however you choose. If you want to work in a classroom or in a small office tutoring people from the comfort of your own home, we make it easy for you to do so.

On average, it will take roughly four weeks to complete the course. However, we know that you may not have four weeks of intensive study to put towards your course, which is why we offer you six months to finish and study at your own pace.

When you get your TEFL diploma, you can use it to teach English in a range of different settings. The beauty of teaching English abroad is that you always have multiple options available to you so you can explore and experiment at your leisure. Public Schools

Public schools are usually teaching English as a primary language owing to life in Australia being English-oriented, but considering there is a constant intake of students who come from Asia to study, you have a few public school opportunities at your disposal. However, it is worth noting that the entry requirements may be a little higher than normal – you will need a recognised degree and probably an additional teaching qualification in Australia before you can teach there. However, if you want to go for this as a long-term career goal, then it is worth doing. Ultimately, you’d need a plan to study and obtain necessary qualifications before you try and go for a position here.

International Schools

It is important to understand that international schools usually stand out from the crowd for a multitude of reasons. They often cater to wealthier families or those who travel a lot, making their curriculum a much more global timetable of lessons. Therefore, there will be opportunities for a TEFL-qualified teacher to get a job working at one of these places, so if you are looking for a way to teach at one you’d better listen up. The salary on offer at a private school is much higher than other opportunities. You may also get paid accommodation or help with travel costs. However, the demands on both your character and skill set will be higher. You will be expected to have more qualifications and you’ll probably be competing with other teachers who are also after the same position and they’re willing to work hard to get it.

Language Schools

Language schools are often the bread and butter of new TEFL teachers and it isn’t difficult to see why this is the case. They are well-known for being a good place to get a new job because they can provide flexible, accessible contracts to get started with. Language schools exist for the purpose of delivering English lessons to those who are too old for school – adults who want to learn English as a foreign language and need to do so for work or other opportunities. If you can teach business English, which is a little more advanced, then you’ll be in high demand. Your typical contract will only cap out at around 25 hours, though. With that in mind, you will need to try and supplement your income with additional work, but it’s a good way to start teaching immediately and build up a reputation.

Tutoring

If you have the right type of accommodation and a passion for teaching, you could start your own tutoring business. It’s a good way to bring in some extra money and also work with amazing people, but you would be solely responsible for reporting your earnings to the government and running a business

The online world has developed to the point that you could teach English online if you wanted. It’s a perfectly feasible way of building a career and bypassing any of the geographical restrictions that might be in place. Obviously, this is not a perfect solution. You would be teaching primarily without support, and you may have to apply for jobs online just the same as if you were tutoring, but it’s still a reasonable way to make a living and it is possible to do from anywhere in Australia.

As is the case for most places in the world, if you want to come and work in Australia, you will need to go through the visa application process. This will involve applying for a work visa and permit, and also eventually needing to apply for permanent residency. This can be a lengthy process, and you may need evidence that you can make a certain level of income. The exact rules and criteria that will be in place for your application will depend upon which country you are choosing to come from, so it’s important to research the restrictions for your area.

Melbourne is another great example of a place to live and work as someone looking to teach English in Australia. It’s a modern place to live which is culturally diverse and offers a good standard of living.

The amount of money that you are capable of earning working as an English teacher abroad in Sydney will depend upon a few things. Obviously, your qualifications and experience will heavily influence what kind of job you can get, which will, in turn, shape the amount of money that you can make.

However, despite the fact that these figures may seem higher than other parts of the world, it’s worth noting that the cost of living is comparatively quite high in Australia relative to places like Europe or America. Naturally, this can make it difficult to secure a comfortable salary, which is why it’s heavily recommended that you do look into things like tutoring as a way to boost your income, and try and get a position that offers you as many hours as possible.
