However, you don’t need to panic, because we will make sure that you’ve got everything you could need to succeed, and help you to identify tools you can use to teach productive skills in a fun, informative way.
There are a lot of great activities which we will teach you that you can use to help get students ready to learn and engaged with what’s going on. We also take a look at how these skills can be put into a classroom environment, even when that classroom is online. This is harder than it sounds so it’s key to get right. We show you how to teach English in the right way, and work on the core aspects of pronunciation and phonology to give you the support you need to thrive and develop. Accreditation
We offer a Level 5 TEFL Diploma which is regulated by Highfield Qualifications. As a regulatory body, they are controlled and maintained by Ofqual, who are one of the biggest and most official providers here in the UK where we work.
This is a qualification which is meant for people who need to get one to formalise the experience they have. It’s also recommended for people who don’t necessarily have any qualifications or experience to speak of but want to build a career for themselves.
We offer access to a qualification you can use to go around the world. This is a tool that will help you to get jobs anywhere in South Africa or beyond. All the qualifications that we offer look great on job and Visa applications. If you want to know more about how our qualifications are regulated, then please feel free to check out the Ofqual website.
The Accreditation Council for Distance Learning:
The Accreditation Council for Distance Learning is a regulatory group who focus on monitoring and checking distance learning. They support people who want to get the best distance learning courses and have created strict rules and guidelines that people have to follow if they want to be accredited. The scheme is recognised globally and we’re proud to have been accredited by them, you can check us using our number, which is 2854-2540.
So, it’s important that you understand that this is not a normal accreditation. The Vital Consular is more like a verification process than anything else. You see, we have worked very hard to be a recognised provider for our courses, and we have achieved global recognition along the way. Part of how we’ve done this is that we’ve set out to build relationships and support that will help our students get the most out of everything they do. That’s why we signed up for this verification scheme where all of our qualifications are recognised by the UK government.
If you’re going to go somewhere like China or Taiwan to teach, then you will find that you have to authenticate your qualifications, and this can be quite challenging. If you don’t have recognised qualifications, then you may be asked to go and gain some, which can slow down your teaching career in a big way. All the qualifications we have on offer are recognised by the government which is a legitimate body, so you won’t have any problems on that front.
The Open and Distance Learning Quality Council is a group which has been active since 1969. While they have hourly changed and grown overtime, their mission to ensure a strict standard quality for education providers has not changed. The group is one of the leading regulatory bodies in the US and the qualifications they approve of have universal acclaim. We are proud to have been able to maintain an accreditation status and work hard to keep it.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is TEFL?
TEFL stands for Teaching English as a Foreign Language. It is primarily teaching non-native speakers English without the use of translation. This means you won’t need to know their first language. TEFL teachers will need the knowledge and know-how of the methodologies to teach in this way. This is why teachers will first need to complete a TEFL course and gain the qualification. TEFL is widely used to either teach English online in one-to-one or small group scenarios or to teach English abroad and is sometimes even used as an easier way to travel.
Who can do a TEFL course?
First and foremost, aspiring TEFL teachers must be outgoing and confident and not afraid to make themselves look a little silly, especially when teaching children. Expression is a considerable part of the methodologies to be able to get your point across. You’ll warm up to this in time, and it all takes practice.
We suggest people be at least 16 with a C1 level of English or higher. If you’re not sure, we have a free English test. We also would recommend people who work on their own initiative as it is an online course, and you will need to be your own motivation.
What can I do with my TEFL certificate?
As a TEFL-qualified teacher, the world is your oyster. Our 120 hour TEFL certificate is fully accredited and internationally recognized, meaning you can teach online or around the globe. If you are looking to teach in your home country at a language centre or would like to go to the UAE, we suggest you do our higher-level qualification, our 180 hour level 5 TEFL course, as this is the requirement in such competitive countries.
What does Level 5 mean?
Ofqual regulates a Level 5 TEFL course according to its qualifications framework. Another Level five teaching qualification is the CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). Once qualified with a Level 5 TEFL qualification, you’ll have access to the most competitive jobs worldwide.
What does regulated mean?
A regulated qualification means that it is officially recognized by the government and sits on the Ofqual Register of Regulated Qualifications.
What is the difference between the 120 hour TEFL course and the 180 hour level 5 TEFL course?
Both courses are primary TEFL qualifications and allow you to start your ESL career. However, there are a few differences between them, and the right choice will depend on your story and goals.
The 180 hour diploma course is a level 5 qualification and can be compared to a CELTA or TrinityTESOL. This course is harder and longer to complete but worth it, as it opens up so many opportunities. This course should be taken if you’d like to teach in your home country or certain places in Asia.
How are TEFL courses laid out?
The TEFL courses are filled with course content, videos, podcasts, reflective tasks, and tests. They are online courses and can be completed in your own time and from home.
Our 180 hour TEFL course has 11 modules with a test at the end of each module, consisting of both MCQs and open-ended questions. This level 5 course has a 100% pass mark. All of the tests can be taken online and submitted. Our system will correct your multiple choice answers immediately and you’ll be asked to retake the test if not correct. You can retake the test as many times as you need. The open-ended answers are checked by our assessment team, and you will get feedback if your answers need to be changed. You won’t get an unlimited number of times, and there may be an extra to repeat, so be sure to take their feedback into account. Once our assessors pass you, your level 5 government-regulated certificate will be issued. You are given 6 months to complete the course, but extensions are available if needed.
Tell me about the correction/ assessment processes?
All online course tests are corrected instantly, except for our 180 hour Level 5 TEFL course. All accredited courses require an 80% pass rate and retests are free.
The 180 hour level 5 TEFL course contains both multiple-choice and open-ended questions. The multiple choice questions are corrected instantly like normal, but word count is the only factor corrected instantly with the open-ended answers. After every three modules, our expert assessors will correct your answers and give you some tips if an answer is not up to standard. Although the instant corrections are free to redo, you may be charged if your long answers are incorrect for a third time, so please take their advice into account when completing the reassessment process.
