Module 2: The Principles of Teaching English Vocabulary

Once you’ve mastered grammar, you can move on to another key part of English language teaching and study vocabulary. 

We give you a series of lessons on how we teach different parts of vocabulary and how you can grow, develop and improve the skills of your students through what you can offer them. Once we’ve finished the module, you’ll be able to show your learners how they can use grammar in their daily lives.

Module 3: The Principles of Learners’ Needs and Teaching Methodologies for Online and Face-to-Face Learning

The third module of the course helps you to come face to face with teaching methodologies and gives you all the skills you need to be an effective teacher. We look at how you can apply teaching methods in both a face-to-face setting and also in the online world.

You will also be getting a history lesson on the English classroom, how it has evolved over time, and how it might look in a few years. We also teach you about the different needs your students will have and how it is your job to design courses that will help them reach their full potential.

Module 4: The Principles of Teaching Receptive Skills for Online and Face-to-Face Learning

With module four of the course, it is time to get to grips with receptive skills. These are skills that your students need to receive in language and focus on reading and listening. These skills are vital for developing confidence as a learner, and you will need to be able to master them if you want students to grow and succeed. 

Your learners will look to you for confidence and we’ll make sure you’re ready by outfitting you with a range of tools you can use, from magazines to podcasts to their favorite YouTube personalities. 

Once you have successfully completed this module, you should feel confident in teaching classes in any setting, whether it is the online realm or an in-person classroom. Module 5: The Principles of Teaching Productive Skills for Online and Face-to-Face Learning

The fifth module takes an exciting look into productive skills. These skills are designed to help with the “production” of language, and are classed as speaking and writing. You’ll find that these can be harder for learners to grasp and it isn’t difficult to see why. However, you don’t need to panic, because we will make sure that you’ve got everything you could need to succeed, and help you to identify tools you can use to teach productive skills in a fun, informative way.

There are a lot of great activities which we will teach you that you can use to help get students ready to learn and engaged with what’s going on. We also take a look at how these skills can be put into a classroom environment, even when that classroom is online. This is harder than it sounds so it’s key to get right. Once you finish the module, you’ll feel ready to tackle these skills and help your students be able to speak and write English.

Module 6: The Principles of Teaching Pronunciation and Phonology

Module six of the course is where we start to get into some of the harder stuff. Phonology and pronunciation are considered tricky subjects for students and you might even struggle yourself to figure them out. However, we’re here to help and deliver your education in a fun and engaging way, so don’t worry too much about it. 

We show you how to teach English in the right way, and work on the core aspects of pronunciation and phonology to give you the support you need to thrive and develop. It’s not always the easiest thing to do so we fully appreciate that you might want to circle back and refer to this from time to time. After all, your learners will look to you as a guide on how to do all this, so we want you to be ready.

Module 7: The Principles of Online Teaching Using Teaching Aids and Materials

The classroom is an important arena to master, as it doesn’t matter where you’re working in a school in South Africa or you’re going abroad – you need to be a keen teacher with the tools to succeed. However, translating these skills into a virtual space can be even harder which is where we come into the equation.

Module 8: The Principles of Lesson Planning and Online Classroom Management Techniques

In the eighth module of the course we’re getting closer to being done so we’re getting into the cool stuff about being a teacher – lesson planning, classroom management and developing a teaching style that works for you. It’s all things you’ll need to know, so we can’t wait for you to be able to learn and grow. 

You’ll be taught how to do things like plan a syllabus, build up a teaching style that works for you, and how to thrive in a world which is constantly learning and evolving. 

We teach you all you could need to know and we work hard to ensure that your skills are top notch – you need to know quite a few things to succeed and we guarantee you have the tools on how to control a classroom and make a lesson that will help your learners to grow and thrive.

Module 9: The Principles of Teaching Adults English as a Foreign Language for Online and Face-to-Face Learning

The ninth module in our course gives you the tools you need to teach adults. It is a different type of experience to working with kids and we want you to be ready for whatever life may throw at you. You will need a whole new set of tools and skills which we are happy to provide for you.
