What will I learn
The first thing you need to know about business English is that it is a specialist area within the TEFL industry. It’s not something we cover in our normal courses, but you need to be aware that you have to do it alongside other qualifications. It is a qualification which massively increases your earning potential.
Most companies like it when their staff are fluent in English. You’ll be in high demand as more and more companies start to look for opportunities to improve their global appeal via business English, because they need professionals to help teach it. That’s where you come in. We offer a 30-hour course which helps you to be able to boost your earning and reputation.
Course Content
It should come as a surprise to anyone that business English is a highly niche subject, and therefore the content that you teach to people will be in high demand because not everyone can offer this course. However, you will be tasked with understanding how business English relates to your learners. The good news is you can do this in-person or online. If you have a business background, then you can get the qualification to formalise your experiences or you can just get straight into studying.

Accreditation
This course is normally done as a supplement for our 180-hour Level 5 TEFL Diploma, which is accredited by Highfield Qualifications. They are a provider which works with Ofqual to deliver a quality education and their accreditation means a lot. If you need more information about what is on offer, then you can look at the Ofqual website or take a look at the Highfield Level 5 Certificate in Teaching as a Foreign Language.
The Accreditation Council for Distance Learning
The Accreditation Council for Distance Learning is a provider who specialises in delivering distance learning verification. They work for the benefit of all distance learners, and anyone who feels confident about the quality of their services is welcome to submit for accreditation. We are happy that we have been able to secure accreditation, and have a number of 2854-2540.
So, it is worth understanding that this is not a specific accreditation that a business can get so much as a verification seal. We’ve worked really hard to be an accredited provider in the UK, and the qualifications that we offer can be taken all over the world and used where you want to go. However, what providers like us can do is register for this optional verification seal that gets everything we do approved by the UK government.
With this in mind, if you try and go somewhere like Taiwan or China, you will be expected to verify the qualifications that you have. If they’re not or authenticated by a recognised body, then they won’t count towards applying for a permit or visa. And well worth taking the time to get this particular verification and we are proud to have done so. Our team has worked tirelessly to make sure that you get the quality you deserve.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is TEFL?
TEFL stands for Teaching English as a Foreign Language. It is primarily teaching non-native speakers English without the use of translation. This means you won’t need to know their first language. TEFL teachers will need the knowledge and know-how of the methodologies to teach this way. This is why teachers must first complete a TEFL course and gain the qualification. TEFL is widely used to teach English online in one-to-one or small group scenarios or to teach English abroad and is sometimes even used as an easier way to travel.
Who can do a TEFL course?
First and foremost, aspiring TEFL teachers must be outgoing and confident, and not afraid to make themselves look a little silly, especially when teaching children. Expression is a huge part of the methodologies to get your point across. You’ll warm up to this in time, and it all takes practice.
We suggest people be at least 17 with a C1 level of English or higher. If you’re not sure, we have a free English test. We also would recommend people who work on their own initiative as it is an online course and you will need to be your own motivation.
What do I need to teach online?
If you have no experience in teaching online, a good idea is to get some teaching practice in, as they may ask for “experience” hours, which are unpaid. You can alternatively complete our 10-hour Methodologies course, which has a section focused on teaching English online.
Most online companies will ask for your TEFL certificate, teaching practice, accessibility to good WiFi, a laptop or other computer devices, and headphones. Some online companies may ask their teachers also to have a Bachelor’s Degree. This is evident in Chinese online companies, as it is a government regulation (no matter where you live).
How are the courses laid out?
Our courses contain content, videos, podcasts, reflective tasks, and tests. They are online courses and can be completed independently and from home.
Our specialist courses are much shorter than the main TEFL qualifications. They are all completed online and in your own time. All tests are done online and corrected instantly. They have course content and tests throughout the course. They can be completed before or after the main TEFL qualification.
Are the courses accredited?
The TEFL Institute is fully accredited by ACDL. Our 180-hour Level OFQUAL regulates 5 TEFL courses.
Is this course completely online? How flexible is this course?
All courses are done online, and no travelling is required for the tests. Except for the 10-hour Virtual training, you can log on anytime. This is to ensure that our TEFL courses can be done during work or other studies. There is a 6-month deadline for the courses, but you can contact us for extensions.
