Overview
To teach English in South Korea is one in-a-lifetime opportunity. If you’re not ready to leave South Korea after a one-year contract teaching elementary and middle school students, there are options to stay! We can offer teaching positions in both large cities and small towns across South Korea, as well as a choice of private or public schools.
If you teach English in South Korea, you will be assisting young language students, as well as having the opportunity to see South Korea outside of the classroom. You’ll be spoiled for choice, able to experience incredible festivals, concerts, restaurants, and World Heritage Sites. Your internship begins with a week of orientation in the magnificent city of Seoul. You’ll learn all about South Korea’s intriguing culture and about teaching in this nation. You will be alongside other TEFL teachers in this time to prepare you for your exciting new TEFL journey.

What’s required before applying?
- Passport holder from one of the following countries: USA, Canada, Australia, UK, Ireland, South Africa or New Zealand (contact an advisor if you're a non-native English speaker)
- Bachelor's degree from the USA, Canada, Australia, UK, Ireland, South Africa or New Zealand (official hardcopy required)
- TEFL certificate (included)
- Criminal background check (from all countries lived in over 18)
- Be aged between 21 - 35 (contact an advisor if you're older)
- Available for one year minimum
- Clean bill of physical and mental health (please enquire if you are receiving ongoing medical treatment or medication)
- Full vaccination of COVID-19 required for public school placement (contact an advisor if you're not vaccinated)

Internship Eligibility Form
Your trip Itinerary
Travel to Incheon airport (ICN)Â where you will take a short taxi ride to your orientation hotel.
When you arrive, you’ll get a full week of cultural orientation.
You will learn about Korean culture, language, and society at orientation, as well as develop friendships with other teachers. Visits to a Taekwondo “dojang,” a Korean cooking class, a visit to the Korean war monument, and the Hanbok experience at the Grand Palace in Seoul were among other cultural excursions.
After completing 120 hours of certified teacher training, you’ll feel confident. You will work in either a public or private language school depending on your qualifications.
Teachers in public schools work at one to three schools in the mornings and afternoons, with classrooms of up to 30 students. Private schools, also known as Hagwons, have fewer classes and usually offer after-school activities in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings.
Your students will be largely young elementary and primary school students with a mixed level of English ability, providing you with a fantastic first-time teaching experience. During your 40-hour work week, you can expect to spend roughly 22 hours (public schools) or 30 hours (private schools) on hands-on teaching, allowing you time to develop lessons based on the in-house curriculum. Your main goal will be to help your eager pupils gain confidence as they improve their English skills through English conversational practice.
You’ll get the opportunity to seek assistance from local educators, but don’t forget to implement your own creative abilities to the classroom; this is your moment to shine!
