Once you have successfully completed the grammar module of the course, we’ll move on to the next key part of being a successful TEFL teacher – understanding vocabulary. Module 3: The Principles of Learners’ Needs and Teaching Methodologies for Online and Face-to-Face Learning

In this third module, we take a deep dive into the world of teaching methodologies, as well as the history of English Language lessons in the classroom and how they’ve been adapted for online use. You will be taught about how your students have different needs and your responsibilities in catering for them. 

You will finish this module with all the knowledge you need for success; not only will you know how English has been taught in the past, but also how it is taught nowadays, along with the tools you’ll need to make sure your learners are ready for success. Module 4: The Principles of Teaching Receptive Skills for Online and Face-to-Face Learning

Module #4 in the course is designed to explore two key skills that learners will need – listening and reading. Module 5: The Principles of Teaching Productive Skills for Online and Face-to-Face Learning

In this fifth module, we move on to the two other main skills students need to speak English confidently – speaking and writing. These skills are more ‘productive’ compared to other abilities and might be difficult for some of your learners, but don’t worry – we will give you all the tools you need to help them succeed and grow. 

We look at communication activities you can do in the classroom, which will help your learners feel confident and fluent both in the lessons and in the outside world. You will also get a proper education in how to adapt these ideas for the online classroom, so whether you choose to work in Canada or abroad, you’ve got a comprehensive knowledge base. Finally, you’ll get to study the writing process and learn how to correct work through the use of tools both physically and online. You’ll come away from this module feeling confident about interacting with your learners.

Module One: Principles of Teaching English Online

In this first module, you’ll be given a crash course in teaching English online and learn about the key differences between this online environment and traditional classrooms. You will also learn about the opportunities available in online teaching and the growing demand for online teachers. 

Module Two: The Principles of Teaching English One-to-One

In the second module, you learn about teaching in a one-to-one setting. There is a high demand for these classes, and you will be given tools to identify the differences between one-to-one and group classes, as well as commonalities between the two.

Module Three: The Principles of Learners’ Needs and Creating a Syllabus for Teaching English One-to-One and Online

In the third module, you will finally get to grips with the importance of determining the needs of your learners, both online and in one-to-one classes, and also how to use a syllabus for teaching and building it into your lessons. We also help you to implement tools and methods to work out the needs of your learners, as well as how to build a syllabus based on their needs. 

Module Four: Tools, Materials and Practical Considerations For Teaching English Online and One-to-One

In the fourth module, you will learn all about how you can use different tools online and in one-to-one classes as necessary. You will be taught how to select and adapt the right options for your learners to ensure they get the best results for their learning. 

Module Five: The Principles of Teacher Talking Time (TTT), Error Correction and Lesson Planning for Online and One-to-One Lessons

In the fifth and final module, you will learn how to use and manage Teacher Talking Time in both an online and one-to-one setting, as well as how to correct any errors which might crop up in those lessons. Furthermore, you’ll learn how to produce lesson plans using both your knowledge and learner feedback.

Module One- The Principles of Teaching Business English

In this first module, you will learn about the basics of teaching Business English. You’ll understand the key motivation for a learner and how your role as the teacher will influence lessons and learning. Finally, you’ll be shown how the language and lessons used are different from general English lessons. 

Module Two- The Principles of Needs Analyses, Course Design, and Materials for Teaching Business English

In the second module, you will be taught how to use a Business English syllabus and how to implement the syllabus in lessons. You’ll also be given more classroom management techniques and materials for teaching business English.

Module Three- The Principles of Teaching Business English Skills

In this third module, you will be taught key skills in English and how they translate to teaching Business English. You will also learn about the importance of context in Business English lessons and how to adapt your lessons for specific purposes. 

Module 4- The Principles of Teaching Business English Grammar, Vocabulary and English for Specific Purposes (ESP) 

In the fourth module, you will get a proper look at how we teach grammar and vocabulary in Business English and how the context differentiates what is taught. You will also learn about English for Specific Purposes, and what materials are available for teaching this niche. 

Module Five- The Principles of Business English Lesson Planning

In the fifth and final module of this course, you will incorporate everything you have learned and put it to good use designing Business English lesson plans. By the end, you’ll be ready to teach Business English to people in Canada and beyond.
